WHY WEALTHY PEOPLE DON’T PLAY THE LOTTERY

When was the last time you read in the paper or saw on the news that a rich individual had won the lottery? Probably never. The reason is because most wealthy people understand the true odds of actually winning the lottery. The bible teaches us in Hosea 4:6 “My people perish for lack of knowledge” and that is actually what is happening to hundreds of thousands of people who squander their money daily on the biggest scam out today.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions are only about 1 in 135,145,920. Statistics show that a person has a better chance of getting hit by lightning than actually winning the lottery. With that being said, I have to wonder how in the world are lottery promoters getting people to continuously squander their money on lottery tickets then? The answer is simple. By making promises of riches and playing in to the dreams of these disillusioned masses who long for a better life. They use catchy phrases such as “Hey...you never know” and “All it takes is a dollar and a dream” to lull people into a false belief that they might actually have a shot at these riches.

So you may ask yourself why am I even bothering to write this article, well to be honest, it’s making me mad to see so many people being made a fool of and to make matters worse they are doing it voluntarily. One day I was standing in line at a store buying a few groceries and couldn’t help but notice how long the lottery line was. But that wasn’t what was so surprising.

What got me hot under the collar was the fact that the line I was in was also just as long and as I glanced over at the woman at the front of the lottery line playing her numbers I could see her handing over all of her money. Money which could have been used for countless other things which I am sure would have been much more important. I turned back around to focus on the line that I was in.

After many minutes of waiting to finally reach the register and pay for my groceries, I happened to take another glance over at the lottery line and to my surprise, there was that same woman still paying for her numbers. It scares me to even try and guess how much she actually spent that day but it has been quite some time since then and I certainly don’t recall seeing her face on the news or in the paper as the next lottery winner. The sad fact is that we are always hearing about the few so called lucky ones who won the lottery but why don’t we ever hear about the millions who lost.

Most people believe that if they could only get more money, then that would magically solve all of their money problems. The sad fact is that history has proven that more money will only increase your money problems if you never knew how to manage money in the first place. If you couldn’t manage a hundred dollars, what in the world makes someone think they are going to be able to manage a million dollars?

You don’t however have to take my word for it. Just ask the many people who won the lottery and ended up broke and in worse shape than before they actually won. Click hear to find out their story.

Wealthy people invest their money into stocks, bonds, real estate and other assets and certainly not into the lottery. If you want to be wealthy then you are going to have to start thinking like wealthy people think and doing what other wealthy people are already doing.

The next time a commercial comes on for the lottery try and repeat to yourself “Hey you never know what might be possible if I decide to invest my money instead”
