Princess Malia Message to Bookclubs and Parents

Hello, my name is Lynette Martin, and I want to tell you about my new book, “Princess Malia.”

“Princess Malia” is an adventurous novel full of surprises, and it’s the ultimate example of good karma.  For example, instead of receiving, Princess Malia wanted to give, especially on her birthday. However, this birthday, she'll get the BIGGEST surprise of her life! An unforgettable, adventurous ride across the ocean and THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL!
Now, here’s a sneak peak of chapter three, titled, “Birthday Wishes.”

When the mail courier finally arrived at the homes of the different Mandinka parents, an updated history book about the Mali Empire was not delivered.  This made the Mandinka people very worried and sad.  If they didn’t receive an updated history book, they would not know if their relatives moved to other lands.
Later that morning, the parents and their children walked to the large school that Princess Malia’s parents built in Timbuktu.  They hoped that they would receive their updated history books at the school.  Once they arrived at the school, they received more devastating news.

Find out what devastating news the Mandinka parents received, and what happened next by purchasing “Princess Malia” through Barnes and Noble’s website.  Search for the book by the full book title, “Princess Malia,”   P-R-I-N-C-E-S-S M-A-L-I-A.  You can find more of my creative works through the website, MarciaBloodline at www.marciabloodline.com.

I hope you enjoy reading Princess Malia as much as I enjoyed writing it for my daughter and making it available for you.  Once again, this is Lynette Martin, the author of “Princess Malia.”  Thank you for listening, and may peace be with you.  View the Princess Malia Book Trailer: http://marciabloodline.com/PrincessMaliaBookTrailer.aspx

“YOU ARE A GENIUS!!   Your book, "Princess Malia", is just what our children -- particularly our girls/daughters need!!!!!  Thank you so much for creating this book which will help to resolve the issue of how to make sure that our children have historical grounding and how to resolve the self-esteem image that many of our girls/daughters have!!!”

Intimate Conversation with Lynette Martin

Lynette Martin, the author of  “Princess Malia” and a mother of an adult son and a teenage daughter, did not want her children when they were younger to feel inferior during lessons regarding slavery at school.  As a result, Lynette decided to turn to her creative side to educate her children about life BEFORE African-American slavery.  Subsequently, “Princess Malia” was created and now available on-line at  Barnes and Noble for the general public.

BPM: Tell us about your passion for writing. Why do you write? What drives you?
I have many stories to tell that may motivate, educate, or stimulate interested readers.

BPM: Finish this sentence- My writing offers the following legacy to future readers...

My writing offers the following legacy to future readers...self-love, black-love, human-love.

BPM:  Where are you from?   How did you start your writing journey?
I was born in Chicago, Illinois.  However, I was raised in South Bend, Indiana during my early childhood, and Los Angeles, California during my later childhood. Shortly after high school, my writing journey began in college while studying screenwriting.  After completing a screenwriting course, I created and copywrited a screenplay titled, “Proceed with Caution,” a story based on a teenager who learned about “first love” the hard way.  Years later, I created my first novel, “Princess Malia.”  I created “Princess Malia,” specifically for my daughter as a short story.  However, a few years later in 2011, I decided to make “Princess Malia” available for the general public in hopes that it would help promote self-love, black love, and human love world-wide.

BPM:  Introduce us to your book for young readers,  Princess Malia.
Princess Malia is an adventurous novel full of surprises and the ultimate example of good karma.  For example, instead of receiving, Princess Malia wanted to give, especially on her birthday. However, this birthday, she'll get the BIGGEST surprise of her life! An unforgettable, adventurous ride across the ocean and the GREATEST gift of all!

BPM:  Who are your two main characters and what do you like most about them?
The main characters in my book are Princess Malia and Prince Songhai.  I like the fact that Princess Malia loves deeply, although her love reaches a dangerous point, it ultimately manifests into courageous acts.  I also love the fact that Prince Songhai is the ultimate “Knight in Shining Armor,” a warrior, protector, and savior with chivalry.

BPM:  What makes Princess Malia stand out and would entice a reader to pick it up?
“Princess Malia” focuses on unconditional love.  Due to the lack of an enticing book cover and print copies, “Word of mouth,” “Princess Malia” book trailer and book reviews submitted on-line on social networking, book club, and Barnes and Noble websites would have to entice readers to order the e-book until the colorful, illustrated, limited edition, hardcover prints become available.

BPM:  Ultimately, what do you want readers to gain from your book, Princess Malia?
I want the reader to become familiar with the names of the Mali and Songhai Empires and realize that African-Americans had a history before slavery.

BPM:  What is the most surprising thing you have learned in creating books?
All you need is a pen, paper, access to information, an imagination, access to an on-line book store, such as Barnes and Noble’s website  and the ability to persuade others.

BPM:  What would you say has been your most significant achievement as a writer?
Completing a story is the most significant achievement for me.  I say that, because I have a lot of story ideas that I haven’t completed yet due to various life challenges.

BPM:   What advice would you give a new writer?
If you love to write, “just write.”  Don’t get caught up in writing for the money.  Tell “your” story.

BPM:  Name three things that it takes to make a successful author, in your opinion?
Three things that make a successful author in my opinion are the three “Ps:” pen, paper and persuasion; in other words, complete the story, make the story available for others to read and persuade others to read it.

BPM:   What can we expect from you in the future?
The “Princess Malia” Series , such as “Prince Charles,” “Queen Marseeya,” “King Jumel,” “King Charles” and “Our Story;” in addition to, “Blackberry,” a romance novel, will be available in the near future.

BPM:  Share with us your latest news, awards or upcoming book releases.
“Princess Malia” is currently available at Barnes & Noble in an e-book format for $0.99, so readers can have a “sneak peak” until the “Princess Malia,” limited edition with color prints become available.   Readers can visit with me at my website: www.marciabloodline.com

Chapter Excerpt from Princess Malia by Lynette Martin

Instead of receiving, Princess Malia wanted to give, especially on her birthday. However, this birthday, she'll get the BIGGEST surprise of her life! An unforgettable, adventurous ride across the ocean and THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL!

Chapter 3:  Birthday Wishes

Princess Malia’s birthday finally arrived and everyone in the Mali Empire was excited.  Today was going to be the big day when Princess Malia would give all the Mandinka parents an updated history book about the Mali Empire.  The Mandinka people loved the updated history books, because the books would tell them where some of their relatives’ new homes were located.

Years ago, some of the relatives of the Mandinka people left Timbuktu in West Africa and traveled to other parts of Africa, Asia, America-North, America-South and Australia.  Wherever they lived, they built large statues and monuments.  The most common statues that they would build were statues of Princess Malia’s relatives who were now rulers of the new lands that they traveled to.

The relatives of the Mandinka people who traveled all around the world also built pyramids in some of the areas where they lived.  They built pyramids in Africa, Asia, America-North and America-South.  When the relatives of the Mandinka people moved to those places, they were the first people to ever live in those areas.
