SIMON SAYS

I still have fond memories of some of the games I used to play as a child to entertain myself before high tech video games like the Xbox came on the scene. One such game I remember was Simon Says. The game was typically played with 4 or more kids in which one person was selected to be Simon and everyone had to do what Simon said.

The only twist was that Simon had to precede his command with “Simon Says.” For example “Simon says touch your toes” If the command did not start with Simon Says, then you were not allowed to do it and if you did, you were out of the game. The last person who managed to do what Simon says and not get out won the game.

I hear you asking, what in the world does this game have to do with achieving success in your life? Well in life there are many people before us who have achieved great success and accomplishment in the same areas that we are trying to be successful in. In these cases we need to attempt to recruit them as a mentor in order to show us what we need to do in order to achieve the goals we are pursuing.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that if we follow the advice of those who have already been successful, and do what they suggest, and do what they have done, then it stands to reason that we will also get similar results. A mentor can be a valuable asset in helping you reach your goals because they have already experienced the successes and failures on the road to success.

If you don’t know someone whom you can approach as a mentor then there is a place where thousands of mentors hang out ready to share their knowledge and experiences with you. You can find them at your local library and the best part is that you can obtain their advice absolutely free! When you find your mentor, just remember to do what Simon says.
