Excerpt for Love, Lies & Lust  by Mz. Robinson

Prologue

I’d never been one to dwell on how or when I’ll die. Why would I? I was too busy living, trying to claim what was mine. I won’t lie, though. My current situation has me rethinking a lot of things.

Days ago, when I awakened, I found myself tied to a chair in the middle of an abandoned warehouse. Inside the warehouse were several chains hanging from the ceiling, and four dust-covered fluorescent lights, along with an equally dusty mattress.

For the first two days, I sat thinking about ways to escape, until I finally concluded there wasn’t one. The metal doors opened from the outside, and the windows were so high that it would literally take a lift to reach them. When I first came to, my head was still throbbing from the blow I’d received, but now the spot was numb. I knew without even touching it that there had to be a knot, undoubtedly a large, disgusting one.

It was unbearably hot and humid in the warehouse, and there was sweat dripping from my body like rain falling from an umbrella. I hadn’t heard nor seen anyone since I’d been dumped in this hellhole, and I was beginning to wonder if they had forgotten about me. My lips were chafed and cracked to the point that when I licked them, I only tasted blood and raw meat. I swallowed, attempting to cool the burning sensation in my dry throat, to no avail; in fact, it seemed my saliva only made things worse.

My dress and panties felt like they were singed to my skin, saturated by my own sweat and urine. I was so miserable with all the pain in other parts of my body that I had no time to focus on the hunger pangs that coursed through my stomach in waves. All I could do was wait for my captor to return so he could do whatever it was he had planned.

But then it hit me: Maybe this IS the plan. Maybe he WANTS me to suffer and rot slowly away. Either way, I was already tired of waiting to find out. I was ready for whatever he had prepared.

Intimate Conversation with Mz. Robinson

Mz. Robinson, born in Huntsville, Alabama is a licensed Realtor and the author of the tantilizing Love, Lies, and Lust Series. Mz. Robinson is an avid reader and advocate for literacy. Although, she began writing as a child, it was not until much later in life that she began to pen short stories. After falling in love with the characters she created, she turned one of her short stories into her debut novel: What We Won't Do For Love.

After completing her first manuscript, Mz. Robinson took a break from writing to pursue other career opportunities. Five years later deciding to pursue her passion, she secured a home with G Street Chronicles. Today Mz. Robinson has five published novels. When she's not writing Mz. Robinson enjoys reading and shopping. She is currently working on her next title and other projects.

BPM: How did you initially break into the publishing industry?  How do you feel about self-publishing?
Before submitting my manuscript to G Street Chronicles, I attempted to secure an agent only to receive letter after letter advising me that they were not interested in representing me. After waiting 5 years before deciding to try again. I was in a Yahoo chat group and saw a post by George Sherman Hudson that he was accepting submissions for his company, G Street Chronicles. I emailed my synopsis and the first five chapters of my manuscript. Within an hour I received a phone call. G Street was the first publisher I submitted to and now I am very glad that I did.

I feel self-publishing is a great avenue for authors who have done their research and have the time and money to make sure they have a team of professionals (editor, graphic designer, quality printer, and promoters) to stand behind their book(s).

BPM: What have you realized about yourself since becoming a published author?
I’ve learned that I 'm stronger than I thought and that for a very long time I allowed fear to stop me from living out my dreams.

BPM: What are some of the benefits of being an author that makes it all worthwhile?
When someone tells me that I touched them with my words or when a reader reaches out to me and tells me they can relate to one of my characters and what he/she is going through. Knowing that I said or created something that had an impact on another person’s life is a beautiful thing.

BPM: Do you have any advice for people seeking to publish a book?
I encourage them to do their research and make connections with people who are not only professional but respected in this industry. Also, although you may feel that you have the best book ever written, do not start your journey by speaking ill of those who are currently published or connected to the publishing industry. You have to remember that those authors paved the way for us. Always remain humble and remain open to constructive criticism.

BPM: Introduce us to your book, Love, Lies & Lust and the main characters.

BPM: In writing your novels, how do you develop the plot? Did you have difficulty keeping the story on point?
I sit down and I write several different scenarios and I think about each of the characters I've created and how I can tie those situations to a particular character. It was hard at times to keep the story on point because there were times when I introduced a character and I wanted to dig deeper into his/her life and share with eveyone every aspect but I had to remember who the story was about and what I wanted you to get from this particular book.

BPM: What should readers DO after reading this book?
Exhale, cool off, and get ready for the next one.

BPM: Ultimately, what do you want readers to gain from your book?
I want you to gain the courage to be completely honest with those in your life no matter how good or bad.

BPM: We are here to shine the spotlight on your new book, but what's next? How may our readers follow you online?
